Who am I, and what’s grow3D?

Hey there! I’m Jim, coming to you from sunny Perth, Western Australia, where I live with my wife and three energetic kids. I’ve been hooked on 3D printing ever since I got my hands on an Ender 3 way back when. For me, 3D printing has become my go-to for fixing random things around the house—and, let’s be honest, making cool stuff for the kids (who doesn’t need an army of tiny dinosaur figurines and lightsabers?).

But as much as I love 3D printing, I’ve had my fair share of frustrations. If you’re in WA like me, you know the struggle. You pay top dollar and get hit with shipping costs that make you question your life choices.

That’s why I started grow3D. My goal? To make 3D printing more accessible in WA, by sustainably sourcing and selling top-notch filament at the lowest price possible. I’m not married to any one brand, either. If one company starts slipping in quality or someone else offers a better deal, I’m happy to make the switch. And hey, if you grab some filament from me, I’d love your feedback—whether it’s glowing praise or constructive criticism. I’m all about making sure you have a great experience, and if something’s off, I want to fix it!

Now, let me walk you through my totally foolproof master plan for grow3D:

Stage 1 - Establish

The first step is working with a variety of filament suppliers to make grow3D the go-to, customer-focused spot for affordable, high-quality filament here in WA. If all goes well and I get enough customers, I might even be able to make this my full-time gig—which would be huge! More time with the kids, fewer “business dad” excuses.

Stage 2 - Scale and Save

Once I’ve built a solid customer base, it’s time to ramp things up. I’ll be buying more filament in bulk to lower costs per unit, which means I can drop prices for you while keeping the quality high. Plus, I’ll be getting involved with community groups to help spread the word about 3D printing and make it even more accessible. It’s all about paying it forward!

Stage 3 - Made in WA

Here’s where things get really exciting. I’ll start manufacturing filament locally, right here in WA—ideally using local materials. Not only would this give you a “Made in WA” option, but it would also help make WA more self-reliant and contribute to reusing our recycled plastics. Win-win!

Thanks for checking out my little corner of the internet. I hope you get to print something awesome today!

Cheers,

Jim
