What is PLA?

PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a biodegradable thermoplastic polymer derived from renewable resources such as corn starch, sugarcane, or other plant-based materials. It is one of the most popular materials used in 3D printing.

What is PLA good for?

• PLA is the easiest material to print with, requiring lower temperatures than other materials and typically no bed adhesion issues
• PLA is great for aesthetics as it comes in a range of colours and finishes and is easy to sand and glue.
• PLA is relatively stiff and strong
• PLA is sensitive to temperature, leaving finished prints in environments at or above 60 °C may result in softening or deforming.
• All of these benefits make it great for prototyping and for anything decorative.

What's Matte PLA?

It's PLA with an additive to give the matte effect. The matte effect can be helpful for hiding imperfections and layer lines. Along with the non-reflective finish, it can give pieces a nice aesthetic appeal.

What's it like to print with?

PLA is easy to print with. It prints best with good airflow and cooling. 

Print Settings:

• Bed Temp - 60 °C
• Nozzle Temp - 190 - 240°C

What's this colour like?

This is a matte grey. The colour would suit a matte star destroyer, or a statue.
